The Twins’ 4-2
home opener loss
to the Guardians
wasn’t exactly groundbreaking,
but this game
earned its spot at #10
for more personal reasons.
A fortuitous flight cancellation the night before
gave me an extra day in Minnesota,
which turned into
an opening day baseball game
with my great-aunt Barbara.
Timing is everything,
and this game landed
right in the middle
of a pivotal decision-making moment
in my life.
Minnesota,
as always,
delivered the perfect backdrop
for clear-headed thinking.

on a brisk April afternoon,
and the drunk fan
to my right
blurting out bizarre things
to Barbara.
