#02:
THE YOSHIDA GAME
Red Sox @ yankees
July 5, 2024
yankee stadium | bronx, ny
The #2 game on my
Top 10 Games I attended in 2024
takes us to my 30th favorite
active MLB stadium.

The stage was set for
a midsummer rivalry matchup
between the 3rd place Red Sox (47-40)
and the 2nd place yankees (54-35).

A relatively dull game had us sitting on a
3-1 yankees lead with
two outs and
nobody on base in the 9th.

In steps Dom Smith to pinch hit.

Any true Red Sox fan knows

he’s
the
guy
you
want
at
the
plate.

Mr. Clutch delivered with a base hit to right field,
extending the ballgame.

Now batting:

#7

Yoshida Masataka.

Blink.

This game is tied.

Yoshida absolutely roped one into the right field bleachers.

(Please read the following in your best
exaggerated, over-the-top accent
for maximum entertainment)

The building erupted
in a Bronx haunting,
as the ghosts of bloody socks
and Boston glory
danced on the shattered spirits
of pitiful yankees fans.

(kinda fun, right?)

A 10th inning,
Rafaela 2-run dinger later,
the deal was sealed.
5-3 Red Sox comeback victory 🕺

Boston Moneyline bettors buzzed with prosperity 💰

Highlights include:

A rain delay without rain,

a couple of Padres fans
randomly hitting it off in left field,

the Red Sox trailing 3-0
and winning 5-3 in extras,
having a beer at @mcsorleysoldalehouse
NYC’s oldest continuously operated bar
(Abe Lincoln had a beer there 🐐),

the
mullet
raging,

and let’s not forget,

the inaugural series of quarters—

a soon-to-be international craze…
